Easily one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Australia, Ebor Falls cascade over 100 metres down tiered columns of graphite coloured rock. In fact, there are at least two waterfalls to see, all within walking distance of the car park. Big waterfalls, cascading through ferns and rainforest, down to the valley floor, with spectacular views down the Guy Fawkes River National Park.
From Coffs Harbour (110km), drive south on the Pacific Highway before turning right onto Waterfall Way (B78). Just beyond Ebor, turn right into Ebor Falls Road and follow to the car park at the far end.
From Armidale, drive east on Barney Street, which soon becomes Grafton Road and later Waterfall Way (B78) for 80km, passing through Argyle and Wollomombi. Turn left into Ebor Falls Road and follow to the car park at the far end.
From the car park, head to the 'Lower Falls Lookout' and walk through to the edge of the smaller falls with breathtaking views over the valley. From here, head along the boardwalk to the 'Valley Lookout' over the main falls.
Most visitors go no further, however the walking track continues along the river into Ebor, where you might wish to cross the bridge for something to eat and a cool beer at the Ebor Falls Hotel before returning the way you came.
None.
Apparently there is access to the bottom of the main falls from the boardwalk between the two waterfalls, as you will often see a couple of intrepid fly fishermen on the water's edge after a trout.
