A detailed description of the walk!
From the far Western corner of the castle gardens head on the road that leads West for a short distance before turning right onto another lane which you shall also depart shortly to head onto the trail that leads up hill to the Ptačí Hrádek (bird castle) where you shall first see the remains of a water reservoir system and then a perculiar monument (you can also detour off trail to the summit of Ptačí Hrádek if you wish). After the monument you shall continue East down the hill and through a field rather than looping back on yourself and this will take you back down towards the castle gardens. Now on the North side of the castle garden walls follow the shortest distance around the walls down to the castle itself which you can walk through to head down into the town (here you can get tickets to climb the castle tower and to visit the castle museum and you can also get tickets to access the castle gardens when they are open). At the far Eastern end of the castle complex you wind down a street south to the bridge which access the main part of town. From here you are aiming for the bridge which is dead south on the opposite side of town though feel free to deviate and not take the most direct route as to see as much of the town (the main square is straight ahead though if you turn right first there is a small island with views of the castle which is worth visiting. Once you have made it to the bridge on the far side and crossed it you must first head up hill before turning right (West) to meet up with an old pilgirmage route which will link you back to the castle gardens and then you can follow the garden walls clockwise to where you started.
Do you need any permits? What's the cost?
Free though if you want to also wander inside the castle gardens or within the castle museum and up the tower their are fees.
How can I find more info? Any guide books?
