Swinging Bridges Trail

Maui

Hike through rainforest and across two swinging bridges (think Indiana Jones) over a stream.

Getting there

From HI-340 drive about 0.5 miles along Waiheʻe Valley Road to a T-intersection. A sign directs you to the right; the road ends at a gate and the entrance kiosk.

Route/Trail notes

The trail is on private property and the owners' charge an entry fee. Hike along a stream which is partially diverted for irrigation. The trail goes across swinging bridges that cross the stream in two places. They might be dangerous. There are also two other places where you cross the stream on foot. The trail ends at a pool in the stream.

Permits/Costs

Entrance fee: $6 per person.

Comments

Nice trail. Swinging bridges add fun. Peaceful and quiet, we were almost the only people on the trail. Several people showed up at 1pm when we were leaving. Entry fee is not good value compared to a national park.
