Login/signup to tick this walk off.A short walk from the carpark up to the top of the mountain where you can see a lot of monkeys knocking about in a hot spring. If you wanna see wild monkeys, this is the place.
You can get to this hike by either driving or by tour bus/public bus. I haven't personally haven't researched or used the bus so I am not sure on the details. Just be careful when driving that there is a toll road leading up to the mountain and the road is often icy so be careful not to slip.
In Google type jigokudani and it will take you to the carpark where some old dudes with light sabers will direct you to a parking lot. Surprsingly the parking is free.

The route travels through some nice forest. The path to the top has a gentle incline that people of all fitness levels can achieve. The thing to be careful of is the ice on the ground as it is very easy to slip. Take your time making the ascent and descent if travelling during winter. Despite being called the snow monkey park, you can visit in other seasons.
It is near impossible to get lost on the trail as there is only one way up.
Just be warned that at the top of the mountain, you will need to fork out about 800 yen to enter the area with the monkeys. Within there is also an onsen that people can use.
