One of the military encampments used by one of the main forces involved in the Battle of Sekigahara. You can feel like you are a samurai as you survey the land and imagine the battle.
You can get to this hike by either walking from Sekigahara station (approx. 25 minutes) or driving to the base of the mountain.
Trust me, you don't need one.
From the carpark, follow the obvious staricase up the mountain. This should take no more than five minutes. Sometimes monkeys rock up. There is also an audio explanation panel at the top of the mountain in both Japanese and English that discusses the Battle of Sekigahara and the strategic importnace of Mt. Sasao.
Go read the histories mate.
