Though an island by name it is not an island by nature. The 'island' on Lake Nuga Nuga can be walked onto and around offering stunning views over the lake.
From Roma, head north on the Carnarvon Highway and 47km north of Injune, turn right onto Arcadia Valley Access Road and follow this for 90km before turning left onto Nuga Nuga Access Road (signposted).
From the north on the Carnarvon Highway, turn left into Mulcahys Road (signposted Nuga Nuga National Park) and then left up Arcadia Valley Access Road. Follow for 25km and turn left onto Nuga Nuga Access Road (signposted).
Follow the access road (recommended 4WD) to the lake and camping areas.
The walk around the island can be undertaken by completing the two branches of the track which goes partially around each side of the island. Depending on water levels you can walk right round the island’s foreshore with ease, or you could opt to cut across the island or just do each branch of the track.
None.
There is remote bush camping (fees apply) available, but you need to be totally self-sufficient.
