This picturesque freshwater lake has a walking track all the way around, together with Tea House and the opportunity of a Cruise on the waters. This is a water filled crater that was created some 10,000 years ago as a result of a volcanic eruption.
Access is directly off the Gillies Highway about 8km east of Yungaburra and well signposted. Due to the nature of the Gillies Highway (includes 20km of very twisty uphill driving), this would be over an hours' drive from Cairns (50km).
This is an easy walk along the gravel pathways and boardwalk around the lake. Keep a lookout for the olive green Freshwater Eels that cross land to get here. Plenty of bird and wildlife including the Tailless Skink and the Brown Bush Rat. There are also 'lovers' and 'twin' trees!
None.
Teahouse/restaurant on site.
