Getting there

The start of the walking trail is located in the exact same location as the start of the St Marys Peak trail. Set course for the Wilpena Pound resort and follow the signs to the walking trails.

Route/Trail notes

From the starting point follow the trail along following all signs for Mt Ohlssen Bagge. Unlike St Marys peak which has a decent amount of flat walking before you make it to the peak, the ascent up Ohlssen Bagge begins almost immediately. It is continuous uphill the entire way with a few sections of fairly simple scrambling. The view from the summit is fantastic and well worth the effort!

Permits/Costs

Non powered camping sites cost $30 a night, day pass into the National Park costs $12.50.

Comments

We went up just prior to the sunset and we certainly weren't disappointed. It's a fairly steep track but nothing too challenging. We encountered a few people on our way to the top but had the sunset all to ourselves. Felt pretty comfortable descending in the dark as the track is very well marked.
