Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk (South East Queensland) |

We told Mr Four that we would surprise him today. One of the clues was that what we were doing would help him know what it feels like to be a tree! The cost of entering the site is expensive but it is a well kept walk that is interesting for all. Pro tip: when visiting impressive rainforests, bring dinosaur figurines for epic photos ;) |

Aboriginal Artwork Track/ Hoop Pine Trail (Mt. Coot-tha) |

I chose this walk to do this afternoon as my walking party consisted of myself, a four-year-old, and his head-cold ridden father. We needed to something short and easy, that would still get us outside in nature! Unfortunately we made the mistake of parking right at the entrance to the Slaughter Falls car park. So we had to walk about 1km to get to the start of the Aboriginal Art Trail! The walk is actually a little more slopey than I expected for an easy walk. I also note that some of the artworks appear to have deteriorated a lot since when I last did this walk in 1997. I agree with a previous poster - would be great if it could be an ongoing community project to maintain or add more artworks to the trail. We enjoyed the challenge of the walk then found a private grassy spot next to the dry creek to have some snacks and a bit of a scramble. Mt Coot-tha is a great place! |

After feeling stressed on the slopes of The Pyramid, I greatly enjoyed the security of being on lower ground and checking out the cool Granite Arch.

A nice walk to start off our adventures at Girraween. Once we got to the main rock that goes over the creek, we found a small track leading right around it which was a lot more interesting - and required a bit more scrambling than the proper track does.

I didn't complete the last 5m or so -- it was at that point that I froze with fear on the bare granite slope! However from where I was, the view was still easy to appreciate when I would allow myself glimpses of it. I never thought I was afraid of heights, but now I think I am. :) |

Did this one with a gal friend as part of practice for doing the Milford Track in NZ later in the year. The terrain was very comfortable. We had come from Brisbane on an absolutely stinking hot day, and thought we were mad for doing such a long walk; however the temperature under the canopy was very manageable. My memories of the challenge of the walk were sore feet and the annoyance of leeches; not tired muscles or sweat.

Did this one as part of the Border Track. We had excellent weather, so clear views and warm. |

I did this with a small group of friends who are much fitter than me. It meant that they set a good pace and were always ahead, stopping every so often for me to catch up. I tough but good workout. I found the final section requiring scaling the wall holding onto the chain quite scary because I know my upper body strength is not the best -- but a younger version of me would have done it much more easily. Remember to pack something warm because even in summer, the chilly wind at the top can be just that - quite chilly!! |

I found this walk much more interesting than Uluru. Watch your footing, because with these sorts of easy walks, I think it's actually easier to get slack and trip up.

Was done on a reasonably busy day so lots of people enjoying the rock pools. Spotted one dislocated shoulder, one girl too frozen on the ledge on a position that was too awkward to climb back down, and a partner that was too whimpy to get in the water. |
