Lake Manchester loop (Brisbane Forest park D'Aguilar National Park)

Pretty much a 17k version of the Enogerra Dam walk. The views of the lake and the lily pads are quite beautiful but by the end of the hike, you've seen enough half-dead grass and gum trees to last you for a lifetime. I did the track clockwise as recommended but I took the first trail to the left. This was a super steep trail that dead-ended at the top of a mountain The left turn I was meant to take was further on. Apart from that, I navigated the track without any mishaps. The log cabin is about a third of the way along the track and is a great place to stop and have lunch. About two thirds along the track you come to the Blue Gum Flats camping area. In the final leg of the walk, you get to pass several farming properties but unfortunately, you don't get to see much of the lake, When the car park finally comes into view you can breathe a sigh of relief. Saw some interesting birds on the walk, like red-backed wrens, red browed finches and the yellow-tailed black cockatoos. Certainly would not do this walk in summer!

The trail notes are pretty accurate, however if you take the SE Ridge trail back, which I don't recommend if you're not a bushwalker, turn left not right when you reach the circumvention track. If you go right you come out on a road.
Mt Maroon (Mt Barney National Park)

We did this walk on a beautiful clear day with great 360 views of Lake Maroon. Mount Barney, Mt Lindsey and even Mt Warning way in the distance. To find the start of the walk you don't go right to the end of Cotswold Rd. but stop at the first car parking area near a little dam. From here you head off to the right and you'll see the track. At first the track is well defined but at a rocky section there is a right turn. Later there is an obvious left turn which takes you up the gorge. Overall it's a physically challenging climb but no special rock climbing skills are required. If you're young and reasonably fit this track shouldn't be a problem. We got up in under 2 hours and down in one and a half hours.
Bally Mountain (Gold Coast)

Did the anticlockwise track up Bally Mtn. Was surprised at how easy the track is to follow even though there are no signs. You stay on the main track/road which veers right then uphill and back down till you reach the creek. Here you should see a trail on the other side of the creek which is marked by a pile of rocks in the centre of the creek bed. You simply follow this well-defined track all the way to the top of Bally Mtn where you can enjoy some fantastic views of the Gold Coast and the surrounding countryside. We came down a third path which goes down the centre of the mountain. This track is very steep and slippery. It's marked with pink ribbons in places and eventually comes out in a paddock which is part of the Conservation area. You'll also see a house nearby.
Stairway Falls (Lamington National Park)

Did this walk on December 31 via the Blue Pool. Took about 2 hrs 20 m to get there from O'Reillys. Stairway Falls are about 2 ks downstream from the Blue Pool. Cross to the other side of the Blue Pool to pick up the track. This old track is still quite good in parts. Pink ribbons are pretty sparse but you can't get lost if you follow the creek. No other major creeks to confuse you. I wore long pants but the stinging trees still got me in the arms. A great swimming hole awaits you at the end, above and below the falls! Didn't see a single snake.

Must be more than 10 km as Blue Pool is 10 km return. Stairway Falls must be at least 12 or 14 km.

Went up SE Ridge. Easy to follow. One and a quarter hours to the top. No difficult climbing like the Glasshouses Mtns. Fantastic 180* panoramic views of the surrounding countryside on the way up. Enjoyed lunch on the summit with views of Lake Moogerah. Went back by Palm Gorge winding my way through lots of rocks and Palm Trees. Palm Gorge turn off, to the right, is a fair way down the SE Ridge track. Two stone steps are the indication you're on the right track. Got back to the car in about 3 hrs.
