So set off today on an overcast day in aim to beat our last time. We began the climb at 10.25 but it wasn't as hot because of cloud coverage. I was amazed at how it all seemed different from the last time but last time was 7 start and we were new to combing. We've since climbed a few more and gained more skill and equipment ie appropriate shoes and hydrate back pack... very useful by the way. This climb today felt quicker and even less distance... tried a few different climbing avenues and as always so grateful for the ribbons that are guides and paint on rocks or tees that help lead the way. Today being quite fit we went up and down in an hour and fourteen minutes. First time was an hour forty five minutes up and an hour and four minutes down so a massive time jump for us. I still advise to take caution always with foot placement on track or during climb and use your arms as well . I personally get low on descension as I can reach objects easier then if I were standing and you've less chance of falling forward. Great climb I'm sure I'll do again... maybe take my other kids up one day.

I might start with this was quite challenging and I've done a few mountains this year. Firstly Lessons learnt ... read the info posted on this website as it will help!!! I naturally popped 'mount borumba' in my gps instead of what is suggested and the gps literally took me up the actual mountain. I might advise it's definitely not suitable for any car that isn't a 4wd, I'm still not sure how I managed to get up and as it's a one car sized track you can't turn around until you come to the open forked road or the water tank. So I spent roughly 40 minutes driving up then down then to correct location before even beginning to ascend. I took my family with me. With intentions of starting early failing due to my lack of knowledge on the correct gps location and starting point... We set off mid morn and it was hot. We took 7 bottles of water and drank a lot of that on ascension. (Second lesson learnt... leave esky in car full of cold water for return)The hike was rocky with slight mud sections then the climb. Oh my. It was steep. I encouraged my children to climb where the tyre tracks had been as that seemed a more natural step to go up as opposed to the slippery rocky terrain inbetween the tyre tracks. I wore great grip climbing shoes so that helped a lot. However walking amidst the big hard rocks I felt them when I stood directly on them. We got to the top which you could see the lake below but your view is obstructed by trees and that took us one hour and twenty minutes. Later when I got home I read this website about mount borumba and realised we hadn't reached the summit even though we thought we did so I think we needed to continue up as I'd seen the water tank when I drove up the other side which by the way was Derrier road... Stirling crossing or something. Again don't drive that way it's steep rocky with a few dirt mound hurdles that only 4wd should attempt. So our descend from the point we got to was intense because it was so steep a few in our group fell and grazed themselves so perhaps go slow and low when going down and use your legs and arms to aid you. I was saying I'd never go back but now I know I didn't quite get there I will try again but without my young family as the climbing part was not easy for them as I'd mistakenly assumed it would be. They made it all alive but I did carry one on my back a fair bit so I'd like to try with a little less extra strength training haha. It took approximately one hour down from our location, which wasn't quite the top but was high enough to see the lake below. So by all means enjoy the walk it's good and be prepared for the natural terrain steep climb as you certainly won't be walking up parts of this track!
Mt Woowoonga (Wide Bay Burnett)

Started the walk early roughly 7am and it is a very natural terrain. Being first to walk the track this morning I removed many cobwebs along the path. I might like to add it's a very narrow path the further up the mountain you go. The signs to this mountain aren't hugely visible so drive carefully until you see Jim Hardy grid sign that's your cue to turn and continue along the dirt road. Animals amidst the morning mist but they kept to themselves off the side of the track. Maybe it rained overnight as the track was slightly damp and the leaves on trees had moisture. They say it's steep and they're not wrong. Is easily the steepest I've climbed. Especially once you get to the part of the mountain where the sign says are you prepared. We had our hiking shoes on which have amazing grip and came in handy for both up and down this mountain. At the top there are trees but if you continue down a little on the other side of the mountain there's some nice open space and boulders which make perfect photo location. Many walkers have left sticks at the beginning of the track. Use one. They're handy for webs and for the climb. Time is correct. Took an hour and a half up and under an hour down. On the descend the sun had dried the ground so was crumbly rocks in areas but as long as you don't race you'll be fine. I will definitely go back again. Was the most natural terrain I've encountered yet with minimal man made steps and only some subtle markers nailed into trees to help guide you along the path.

What can I say! I absolutely loved this mountain. It was sooo much fun. There was natural terrain and man made aids within the mountain. It was a slightly damp morning when we set out at 7am up Cooroora. The walk up was slightly steep and then the steel ladder steps with chain to aid was a nice aid. The chain helped when there was limited rock or step to get up. The rock climb was fantastic! I'm not exactly tall so I wad thrilled to be able to have so many grip options to help myself up. Compared to mount Walsh where I needed to stretch a little more for gripping. This mountain has been hands down my favourite for the rock climb and the summit although small has tree views with a gap where it's open for great photos. I will definitely be going back to this fun climb again for sure!

This was an early morning climb. A good amount of people traffic so that's nice to know from a young female perspective and safety. Lovely walk and pretty easy with a nice path to trek. Nice cliffs before the summit for photos and OMG the view at the summit. Amazzzzing! 360 degree views of other climbs. I'll take some of my older children tu this one next time.

This is a great mountain that is beautifully manicured with natures stones to make steps. Easily the most built up climb I've done to date. In fact I enjoyed it so much I did it a few times a day when down that way because it was worth the climb and descent. Many people on the track so always safe. Beautiful views from the top. Took my small family up it a couple times too and they did it easily. With so many stairs maybe a stretch before and after would be wise. I'll be going back again for sure!

Mount Walsh was my first climb and I went in with no idea what to expect. We began the ascend approximately 7am. The track itself is very natural terrain and while a slight slant at the beginning it became fairly steep quickly. Take lots of water as it can be quite warm. There's enough space for rest brakes. There's ribbon and paint on rocks and trees to help guide you along the way when you might not know where to go. You'll know it's time to rock climb when you get to a flat slanted rock face. No ropes or chain just find areas you can grab or put your foot in and make your way up. Total time up was 1 hour 45 minutes . The top is glorious and spacious with plenty of great views. Descending was approximately 1 hour. Just take your time climbing down the rocks then be wary when going down the bush track as using your legs for braking for a length of time they might tremble a little. I'm definitely going back to try get a quicker time.
