Login/signup to tick this walk off.Mount Bogong (1986m) is the highest mountain in Victoria and provides a challenge to ascend but is worth every drop of perspiration to get those forever views.
Travel in via Mt Beauty to the Mountain Creek Camp area.
Trails lead from there.
You can also access Bogong via a couple of other spurs, Eskdale & Granite if you have a 4wd.
Mitta Mitta 8324 N if you seek a topographic map.
Be prepared for the relentless climb, there is little rest climbing upwards.
The trail is pretty clear and easy to follow and once out of the tree line there are snow poles.
Bivouac Hut is roughly half way up the Staircase Spur and there is a water tank there although you should not blindly rely on it having water.
If you go up Eskdale there is a similar hut called Michell on the way up and it too has a water tank.
After these locations you are unlikely to able to find water as you are walking the spurs.
Take plenty of water.
