Wilsons Promontory Southern Circuit

Wilsons Promontory National Park

A 2-3 day circuit hiking the southern section of Wilsons Promontory National Park, heading south via Sealers Cove, Refuge Bay and Waterloo Bay to the Lightstation, and back to Tidal River via Oberon Bay. Fantastic hiking through a variety of landscapes and traversing a number of beautiful bays and beaches. Multiple camping spots can be booked on-line, and there is a cabin and dormitory at the Lightstation.

Getting there

The walk starts at Tidal River or Telegraph Saddle, in Wilsons Promontory National Park (about three hours south of Mebourne; nearest town is Yanakie)

Route/Trail notes

There a number of well-marked routes that provide a circuit of the southern section of the park. The longest - and most scenic - is around 59km. It goes from Telegraph Saddle to Sealers Cove, Refuge Bay and Waterloo Bay and then onto the Lightstation, with the return route back to Tidal River via Oberon Bay. The walk can be shortened by returning on the Telegraph Track.

Permits/Costs

There are fees for the camping sites and the shared dormitory accommodation at the Lighstation
