A steep but short walk down from West Head in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park to a historic World War II gun embankments on the coast.
Trackhead is at the very end of West Head Road, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park
Which maps cover the area?
The restored track starts from the West Head lookout car park, and is clearly sign-posted. The well-constructed track winds down the side of the slope through light eucalypt forest (it’s fairly warm in the afternoon sun!) and after 300m reaches a set of steel stairs. At the bottom of these stairs is the first of the WWII structures that can be visited.
Entry fee is payable ($12) or annual pass
