Lyrebird loop Walk

New England National Park

This one can be taken from a couple of points to get the loop in. Be prepared to traverse along rocky and tree root covered paths. Beware of the odd land slip and there are many steps worked into the root system of trees going up and down. Can be a loop with Upper and Lower trail.

Comments

Pay attention to current track closures. It seems there is an alternative for the tree fern valley track in place to make the complete loop.

Stunning walk, quite challenging, we must have taken a wrong turn somewhere and ended up doing a few more kms. Saw two lyrebirds on the track! Misty, mossy rainforest, wear appropriate shoes/ clothes!

This was a fantastic walk. We began at Banksia Point Picnic Area and walked in a clockwise direction. On the way down we took a side track to Esgles Nest Lookout which took us past Weeping Rock. This part of the track was quite strenuous and slippery. The Eagles Nest Track is currently closed from this end at the lookout. We then proceeded down into the tea tree gully. This part of the track was really beautiful passing the base of cliffs. When we made it to the Robinsons Knob Trail we took two more side tracks - Wrights Lookout and the Cascades Walk before going back to the track which lead to the top of the cliffs. At the top the vegetation was really different. Someone told us it was an alpine swamp. We saw ja flock of yellow tailed black cockatoos up there. Fantastic walk.
