A short but challenging walk along Piles Creek. Includes views of waterfalls and a suspension bridge, with a swimming hole near the end.
Start at Girakool Picnic Area at the end of Girakool Road, off the old Pacific Highway (about 40min from start of M1 motorway)
Gosford 9131-2S 1:25K
From the Girakool Picnic Area (where there are free gas barbecues, picnic tables and running water) the track follows one side of the valley along Piles Creek, before descending and crossing the creek. The track then climbs up from Piles Creek to the ridge, and follows the opposite of the valley to the car park. Shortly before the end, you can access a nice swimming hole which is just off the track. There are nice little viewing platforms available along the track and you can wander through the creek at places where the water flows through to a waterfall.
Cost is $8 parking at Girrakool car park and picnic areas.
