Ena Gorge 恵那峡 (Gifu Prefecture)

Japan

Ena Gorge is not a natural gorge, it is actually a dam. If you ignore some of the dam like features, it is pretty cool. Water is a nice colour. Nearby is a shoddy theme park built in the 80s and a random pyramid. A lot of oddities, something for everyone.
A very chill walk around the peninsula-like thing.

Getting there

Get to the beginning of this hike by either taking a bus from Ena station bound for Ena Gorge or by driving. There are numerous free carparks and hotels around Ena Gorge as it is the premier attraction of Ena.

Route/Trail notes

Begin the walk from the Ena-kyo sign. Follow the concrete footpath around in either direction you like. If you feel adventurous, try your hand at one of the side paths. It is genuienly impossible to get lost. The footpath takes you on a one way loop around the small peninsula-like thing to get views of the dam.

For best views of the gorge/dam, I recommend driving up to the red bridge from the distance and having a sticky break from the lookout tower there.
