Jourama Falls is located within Paluma Range National Park. The 3km return trail follows a path along Waterview Creek, with plenty of fresh water swimming holes along the way.
Jourama Falls is located 90 km north of Townsville, easily accessed via the Bruce Highway, with a 10 minute drive along the unsealed Jourama Road, winding through cane properties to reach the northern gateway of Paluma Range National Park.
The area is set up for day use, providing grassy banks with plenty of shade, picnic tables and barbeque facilities, as well as unpowered camp sites available for booking overnight or longer stays.
Drive past the day use and camping areas to reach the carpark at the beginning of the trail. From the carpark, the first section of the trail is an easy sealed walking path for approx 500m, through the bush set above the banks of Waterview Creek. At the end of the sealed walking path, decend stone steps down to Waterview Creek and follow the trail which has some lengths of timber boardwalk with non-slip wire mesh, making the creek crossing relatively safe and easy. Once across the creek, the trail winds up the hillside to swimming holes further upstream, and the first lookout point to see the top of the falls. Access to the second lookout point at the top of the falls, has been closed from about May 2021 through to April 2022, due to track maintenance. This section of the track is due to be re-opened at end of April 2022.
Camping permit is required.
