Route/Trail notes:

This shared wide track follows the old railway line, running parallel with the new one. The tunnel is the highlight where, if you take a torch, you will see large-footed myotis bats and the pretty blue moths.

There are some more challenging side tracks, but please download and print the map, as 'named' tracks are poorly marked.

Comments

Not very well signed. Take a picture of the map at the beginning of the walk to refer to it later. There are a few paddles and creeks running through after a heavy rain but manageable in good shoes and jumping skills :)

Nice easy walk...tunnel is pretty cool. If you don't fancy walking back to the start....catch a train! Awesome

We started the walk at the Landsborough end. They are doing some work on the train tracks at the moment and the fence between the train tracks and the walking track is down at the moment. According to the sign the work should have been completed but they are still working. We had to move off the track once for a truck to pass. The tunnel is fun and that end of the track isn't cut off.

This was a reci to find another family friendly walk/cycle trail. With the pretty much flat terrain and the interest of the tunnel, this track achieves just that.

Interesting tunnel. Check out the other tracks while you're here.

Great track for a leisurely conversation and catch up with my 76 year old dad. Sunny day and happy (grand)kids. No torch necessary. The tunnel is definitely the highlight, especially the secret door ;)

Walked the "Tunnel Trail" to the Tunnel, starting at the south entrance on Beech Rd. Track goes along Nambour/Gympie train line. At 3pm on a sunny day, there was sufficient light inside the tunnel to go through without a torch.

Did this hike this morning. Parked at Dorson drive Mooloolah , walked through tunnel ( no bats this morning ) and further along up the Myla Track , this one is steep at times , follow through via Roses Circuit to almost a 10km return hike. Most of this is shared by either/or Mountain bike riders / horse riders.

Did the bike option with the kids and a few of their mates as a school holiday day out.
