Mount Coolum

Sunshine Coast

Enjoy a steep trek to the summit of one of the Sunshine Coast’s ancient volcanic domes. Created about 26 million years ago, Mount Coolum is a laccolith, formed when a dome-shaped bulge of magma cooled below the Earth’s surface.
Spectacular coastal views, rare and threatened plants, wildflowers, bird life and geology feature here.

Track has been majorly upgraded since my last visit and a new lookout amphitheatre has been constructed, providing a place to sit at the top. Climb with Liliana, Jasmine and Brianna(in a baby carrier).

Always a great view of the coastline and a calf workout with the stairs.

Quite technical under foot, worth the view.

Steep, stairs most of the walk but views are worth the effort.

This is a great mountain that is beautifully manicured with natures stones to make steps. Easily the most built up climb I've done to date. In fact I enjoyed it so much I did it a few times a day when down that way because it was worth the climb and descent. Many people on the track so always safe. Beautiful views from the top. Took my small family up it a couple times too and they did it easily. With so many stairs maybe a stretch before and after would be wise. I'll be going back again for sure!

Always a good stretch of the legs. Nothing too strenuous.

Relatively easy walk you can complete it in under an hour if you exercise regularly nice view considering the low time investment.

Did this after doing Mt Cooroora. Steep but do able. The path could use a guide rail here or there to make it a little safer but on the whole it's good track to the top and gets easier once you get up.

Beautiful views of the coast throughout this uphill walk. There's lots of steps so make sure you stretch first.

Very busy these days but always worth it from the top. Easy walk for all ages. Take water.

Lots of stairs but so worth the view

Great way to start a girls weekend away. Did this walk mid morning on a Friday and it was relatively busy. Lots of pleasant 'hellos' and everyone was super polite and courteous to different fitness levels. Easy walk, steady incline and great views of the pacific ocean at the top.

Short and gorgeous! Cant wait to see sunrise and sunset here.

Another good walk. As every other walk at the moment it was really busy. Parts of the track seem to have been upgraded a bit since our last visit. It's a really good track, though some parts are really steep and exposed.

Very steep straight up walk. Majority is steps made of rocks and stone so need to watch your footing constantly.
View at the top worth it, but not much space to look around at the top.

18-25mins from base to summit at reasonable pace. Family friendly. Enjoy summit, take photos and get back to car in an hour.
