Named after one of Captain Cook's crew (Carlo), Carlo Sandblow provides magnificent 360° views. To the north is Fraser Island and Inskip Point and to the south the length of Rainbow Beach all the way to Double Island Point. Informative signs on the Sandblow are provided.

Getting there:

Travel straight into town on Rainbow Beach Road and then turn right at the bottom by the Surf Club into Wide Bay Esplanade. At the end of the campsite, where the road doubles back and becomes Ocean View Parade are the steps for the start of the walk.

Route/Trail notes:

From the steps, follow the rollercoaster track up at the back of the houses, until you ultimately meet the more popular track from Cooloola Drive at the water tower. Continue on the well defined trail till you reach the sandblow.

This walk will likely last a lot longer than the hour and a half! If you have kids with you, they will thoroughly enjoy themselves sliding and rolling down the sides of the sandblow.

Did the loop from the ranger station (beginning of the cooloola walk), cut across the middle of the sandblow and then back down the road - 5 kms round trip. sandy track but lovely walk. a few sneaky inclines but nothing too strenuous.

Easy path to follow however there are quite a few stairs, so be prepared for that. Carlo Sandblow is STUNNING. There were kids boogie-boarding down it (wish I knew, then I could have brought one). Beautiful views of the ocean too. The sand was so natural and was a mix of different colours. Very unique. Highly recommend this walk. Amazing spot in QLD.

Would highly recommend for the breathtaking views during sunrise and sunset. Cannot access the actual beach from up the top.

Great view- it's like being in a desert! Make sure you go in the morning ie we went at 7am- that way the sand isn't too hot, and the sun is more bearable.

We have taken the kids up here a couple of times and they just love rolling down the sand and it provided a great and energetic alternative to the beach.
