The road is closed shortly after the initial plateau carpark but by walking along the road and avoiding no tresspassing telecommunication areas a nice walk can be had to South Barrow.

A detailed description of the walk!
As Mt Barrow Rd is closed by a gate shortly after the first plateau carpark from there on out you will need to walk. The route follows the road and is problem free until you reach the fenced off telecommunication area which you can skirt to the right and then re pick up the road. After this you can follow the road to the top of the summit then return.
