Mt Cordeaux (Main Range National Park)
6 Jul, 2020
Medium
6.8km return
2.5 hrs
Heading from Brisbane to Warwick through Cunningham's Gap, you will find Mt Mitchell on your left and Mt Cordeaux and Bare Rock on your right. It is about 1.5 hour drive from Brisbane and around an hour from Ipswich 🚗

Mt Cordeaux stands 1,135m above sea level ⛰ It is 6.2km return hike and from here a further 2.8km to Bare Rock 👟

This picturesque hike will take you through some stunning rainforest with moss covered ancient old tree's and boulders 🌳 glorious crow's nests, staghorns and ferns 🌿 Even though I started this hike later in the day, you could still feel the Winter crisp air on your cheeks as the afternoon went on 🌞❄
The sound of bell bird's, lyrebirds, parrots 🦜 frog's 🐸 and the scuffle of wallabies being woken from a late afternoon nap 🦘 can be heard throughout the forest as it starts to wind down for the day. My kind of magic ✨

The view from Mt Cordeaux is quite beautiful with views South down the length of the Main Range National Park, Moogerah Peaks and Mt Barney and North to the Mistake Mountains 🌄

I would highly recommend hiking the further 2.8km from here to Bare Rock 🗻 It is a long 2.8km but well worth it. From on top of Bare Rock you do feel like you are on top of the world 🌏 watching the clouds gently dance over the Great Dividing Range ☁️ soaking up the Winter sunshine 🌞 you can't help but be so very grateful to be alive 🙏

I would not classify this hike as hard but a reasonable level of fitness is needed 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️
The track is well signed and easy to follow ↖️
It took me about 2 hours to hike to Bare Rock with stopping for photo's along the way 📸 and just under an hour and a half to get back down.

Now is the perfect time to start hiking and exploring these glorious mountains of ours and enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer 💕

Somerset Trail (D'Aguilar National Park)
28 Jun, 2020
Medium
13km return

Today I hiked for my first time on the Somerset Trail 👟

You will find this hike up at Mt Mee.

The parking/picnic area is called The Gantry.
I could imagine this getting quite busy as there are different hikes as well as 4wd and motorbike tracks everywhere up here 🏍

The Somerset Trail is around 13km round trip.
It is one of those hikes where you can take it nice and easy or really push yourself.

I really pushed myself on this one today and there are enough inclines to sure get the heart racing 🥴

You will pass through gorgeous rainforest 🌿 onto some gigantic pines 🌲 followed by our typical Aussie Bush that is full of glorious fresh green rejuvination after being hit by the bush fires 🔥🌱

I didn't get to see the scenery from the lookout today as I was up in the clouds 🌧 Which really was quite majestic 💙

On my way back I did manage to get myself lost 🥺 for the very first time and the mountain mist had turned to mountain rain 🌧
I think it was number 3 crossing where you should turn right, I went straight ahead.
I ended up in a gigantic pine forest and then onto a very slippery, muddy motorbike track.
By the time I found my way back after slipping over not once but twice on some steep bike tracks 🤨 I did manage to freak myself out a bit!
I was talking to 4 other hikers who said they had done the same thing and they didn't think the signage was very good on the way back.

By the time I got back to the truck I was one cold, muddy, exhausted drowned rat!!!

Safe hiking and have fun!
🙏💕

Mt Mitchell is one of two peaks on either side of Cunningham's Gap ⛰⛰

It is a volcanic mountain and sits 1174m above sea level.

From Ipswich, it is a little over an hour to reach as you head towards Warwick 🚗

It is not a strenuous hike but in saying that, I did have to stop a few times on my way up and would suggest a moderate level of fitness is needed 👟

This hike will give you some stunning views of Main Range, the Moogerah Peaks through to Mt Barney 🌄

It is so wonderful to see it flourishing after the fire's!

Enjoy 💕🙏

From Ipswich, if you head out through Fernvale and head towards Somerset Dam, you can head up towards Mt Glorious, Mt Mee and Mt Nebo through some absolutely beautiful scenery 🌄

Today I hiked the Morelia Track at Mt Nebo.

This track will take you from the Manorina carpark to Mount Nebo lookout.

This track is gentle sloping with some steep sections and nice and easy to follow all the way 👟

You will pass through some beautiful lush rainforest that is filled with the sound of birdsong 🦜🌿

When you reach the lookout you will be greeted with views over the Samford Valley to Moreton Bay 🏞

If you team this hike with the Atrax Circuit, it is about 7km round trip.

It took me about 1.5 hours with stopping to take photo's along the way.
This is an easy little hike but will get your heart pumping

Enjoy 🙏💕

Mt Joyce Summit Walk (South East Queensland)

Medium
12km return

From Ipswich if you head out towards Beaudesert you will come across Wyaralong Dam.

They have a few shared hiking track's that you can choose from.

From the carpark I took the shoreline track along the dam and then quite a steep climb up to Mt Joyce.

The track has a lot of sand and loose stones and gets very slippery in parts.

It is a very hot hike with our steamy Aussie scrub. Please take plenty of water and I would not recommend doing this one in our hotter month's.

It's quite pretty along the dam with nice views from the summit of Mt Joyce.

It's not an easy hike but I wouldn't classify it as hard.
The track's are easy to follow but I would say a moderate level of fitness is needed. It does get the heart pumping 💓

Goolman Lookout via Rocky Knoll (Ipswich - Flinders Goolman Conservation Estate)
22 Apr, 2019

You will find the entry to Goolman Circuit at the picnic area of Hardings Paddock out towards Peak Crossing 🐝🌱

This hike is about 6km round trip 👟
The track is a shared track with bike riders 🚴‍♂️ and a horse trail 🐎 It is well signed but I think it would be slippery in the dry due to bulldust.

This hike is quite steep in places and it definitely got my heart racing 🥵

There is a nice bit of a view from up the top with lots of tree's around 🌳 but nice to sit in the shade and catch your breath 🌬

I would suggest doing this one early of a morning in cooler weather as there is a lot of scrub 🍂

Perfect time of year to get out and explore new places in this beautiful backyard of ours
Enjoy 💕

Coomera Circuit (Lamington National Park)
6 Mar, 2019
Medium
17.4km
6 hrs
Binna Burra is about a 2 hour drive from Brisbane and is located up in the hinterland of the Gold Coast.
Lamington National Park is the glorious rainforest that surrounds this area 🌿

They have a few walks to choose from up this way. Whether you are after a short stroll or a longer hike, I guarantee they will all be beautiful 🍃☘🦋🦎🦘 Today I hiked the Coomera Circuit 👟🚶‍♀️
This is a 17.5 km hike through lush, tropical rainforest which crosses Coomera River several times and leads you to some pretty magnificent waterfalls 🏞

They say to allow 7 hours for this hike. It took me 4.5 hours all up and that was stopping for MANY photo's and about 45 minutes at one of the falls rock hopping and playing in the water for a rest and grounding 🧘‍♀️💙💧
Don't go by Strava, it dropped out on me and missed about 7 km of this hike.
They have had a lot of rain up this way and it is so lush and green 💚🍃
But it has made the track slippery and boggy with a lot of debris as well as tree's fallen across the track in places. So just be mindful.

This hike is an easy hike but long. I am clumsy at the best of times, but by the home stretch I was tripping over my own feet 🥴

Coomera Circuit is a picturesque hike through our magical Lamington National Park.
This hike is one I highly recommend 🌄

Enjoy and go and live this life bright 🙏 💕

White Rock Multi-User Trail (White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate)
21 Feb, 2019
Easy
6.5km return
2 hrs
White Rock is located in the city of Ipswich out Springfield way, about 30km south-west of Brisbane.

I took the ridge track to the left which is surprisingly graded a class 5.

It took me from the carpark, around 45 minutes to reach the top and about 30 minutes back.
6.1km round trip.

It did get the heart pumping in places with views when you reach the top over looking Springfield and right the way to town.

On the way back I decided to do a short fast burst up Little White Rock which is only 250m but pretty much straight up.

This hike is not too badly signed but please be mindful that it is our Australian Bush and just gets hotter and hotter throughout the day. I would recommend going early of a morning or late evening. This track is very dry and is covered in bulldust which can be very slippery in places. So take care.
I personally would not grade it a class 5 but I believe an average fitness level would be needed.

Morans Falls (Lamington National Park)

This would have to be one of my favourite places 😍

Head up to O'Rielleys and this hike is just before the carpark at the top of the mountain.

I do both of these hikes as they are both quite short but put together and it is a nice length.

I recommend doing Python Rock first then you can relax at Morans Fall's as the 2nd part to your hike.

Python Rock is 3.4 km return and has lovely views of Castle Crag over looking The Lost World and Razorback Mountain.

Morans Fall's is 4.4 km return.
It is a beautiful hike through lush rainforest 🍃 and ancient tree's 🌳 with the destination of the top of the Fall's feeling like the edge of the world 🌏

You will have to do some rock hopping to get to the top of the Fall's, but I guarantee you will love it 💙💚💛 Kick off your shoes 👣 and cool down in the crystal, cool water 🏞

This hike would be great for a family day out as it is an easy hike and the kid's will love playing and cooling off in the water 🌈

This circuit is 10.9km and is an easy walk. It took me about 4 hours and that was with stopping for lots of photo's, many oohh's and aahh's and lunch at Picnic Rock.
Walk this circuit in a clockwise direction and exit via Elabana Falls and Picnic Rock. The track is easy to follow for the whole circuit and is well signed.

The waterfalls that you encounter on this hike are glorious shows of stunning, shimmering, breathtaking beauty that are deep in a majestic forest. The sound of the rainforest bird's and the thundering of the falls, the crisp, clean smell of overnight rain, the sight of moss covered boulders and the sheer beauty of the rays of sunlight as they break through the canopy hitting the ancient, old giant trees that whisper to your soul as you touch them....
This is definitely one of Mother Nature's finest that you must come and experience for yourself 💕🙏

Mount Edwards (Moogerah Peaks National Park)

Hard
6km return
3 hrs
The start of this hike is at the picturesque Fred Haigh Park at Lake Moogerah 🏞
This park has bbq's, shaded picnic areas, toilets as well as a lovely little cafe.
To get to the start of this hike you need to walk over the dam wall🏞 Please take note that the dam wall access is only permited 6am - 6pm ⏰

It took me about 1.5hrs to reach the summit and I actually found it more challenging than Mt Cordeaux/Bare Rock. I am on the tail end of the flu and laryngitis though, so my health and fitness aren't much to go on at the moment 😕

The hike is only about 6km return but from the halfway point it is pretty much all up hill. From this halfway point you will see Little Mt Edwards straight across and straight up is the summit of Mt Edwards ⛰

When you reach the summit the view and the feeling of gratitude and love is a moment where no words are needed because you just relish being in the Now 🙏

There are plenty of places to find in the shade to just be and feel love 💖
This is a great hike that I would say a moderate level of fitness is needed. The track is very visible all the way up. I would definitely recommend doing this one early in the morning 🌄 and in our cooler months ❄ There is a lot of scrub 🌳🌾 that covers this mountain and I can only imagine how hot and steamy it would get in sumer time 🏜

It only took me about 45min to get back down.

My kind of magic 😉 and that's even before you reach the summit!

The view from Mt Cordeaux is very beautiful with views South, down the length of the Main Range National Park, Moogerah Peaks, Mt Barney and North to the Mistake Mountains ⛰

I would highly recommend hiking the further 2.8 km (about 20 min) to Bare Rock. Here you will be greeted with spectacular views of the Scenic Rim and what a pretty bloody glorious place to stop for something to eat 🍏🍉🍓

I would not classify this as a hard hike but a reasonable level of fitness would be recommended 💪
It took me about 1.5 hours at a reasonable pace to reach Bare Rock stopping to take MANY photo's along the way 📸
I spent about 1 hour on top of Bare Rock just soaking up the Winter sun and watching the clouds roll in and out of the mountains and valley's 🌬
The hike back down only took about an hour.
