Mt Greville (Moogerah Peaks National Park) |
17 Oct, 2015 |
Hard |
6km return 3 hrs |

Having followed the ridge last time and descended through Palm Gorge was keen on giving Waterfall Gorge a go. Quite a bit of scrambling but not so difficult. Saw quoll sign, got roused on by peregrines on the cliff face and tangled with the odd orb weaver. Coming out of the gorge, chose to go right a bit to find a prominence with a great view of the east face and a good spot for morning tea.
White Rock Ridge Hike (White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate) |

Still a few patches of wild flowers along the ridge. A pair of nesting falcons on the eastern face surprised me as much as I did them. The walk along the ridge is much more enjoyable than the multiuse trail, a little rough but not hard or terribly steep

Mostly through rainforest other than the lookouts and the ridge just after Cordeaux. Plenty of bird life though the lyrebird escaped my camera

Not too hard a walk with views in all directions. Grass trees on the summit were flowering for an added bonus
Flinders Peak (Ipswich - Flinders Goolman Conservation Estate) |
19 Oct, 2014 |
Hard |
6.5km return 3.5 hrs |

Very steep for the most part, footing is often loose on the steeper sections. Boulder clambering about 500m short of the peak where the track is absent or at best not obvious. No real problem if you stick to the ridge. Final ascent to the peak requires care in parts especially a short scramble through a cleft. Views are rewarding all the way up

Lake Manchester loop (Brisbane Forest park D'Aguilar National Park) |

The northern bank was closed due to back burning, so we did the southern trail up to Blue Gum Flats campsite. Easy walking through woodland with some glimpses of the lake - some of the hills seemed higher on the return! Will come back to do the whole loop out of fire season

Walked in the early morning. A multitude of birdlife around the creek bed, and wallabies beside the trail.
White Rock Ridge Hike (White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate) |
21 Sep, 2013 |
Hard |
6.5km 2 hrs |

The start of this hike, a little way off the White Rock multi user trail is not signed at all, but easy to find if you look around - the multi user trail cuts a haul road, and signage directs you off to the right. Instead of turning, follow the haul road 50 metres north and there is another small sign on the right sending you up the ridge trail. Much more interesting, although more challenging than the multi user trail. Quite rugged in parts and good footwear is a must. Signage is absent a few hundred metres after the start. The track peters out on a rocky outlook where you can see White Rock ahead. A little casting around will show up the last trail marker, sending you down a cleft to go across the col and then up to White Rock. |
