Superb walk - the 360 degree views from atop Mt Castle are absolutely stunning. The last 3-400m can be pretty hectic if it's rainy and/or windy...it's steep granite...but on a calm, sunny day it really is beautiful. Well worth the effort this one - the walk to and from is also idyllic and lovely.

Really enjoyed this 14km walk - it's a super pleasant stroll through varying landscapes - predominantly tall gum forests. The track is very well maintained and comfortably soft under foot. A good walk to stretch the legs without having to push through hectic hills - it's a pretty easy day out and just perfect if you feel the need to get some distance in the legs without having to exert huge amounts of energy. There's an 18km walk that starts from the same place here in Bald Rock - it's called the "Carrolls Creek" walk - if you feel you need an extra 4km. Bald Rock National Park is sensational - situated around 27km from Tenterfield on a very well maintained, sealed road. What a beautiful part of the world this is!!

This is a bit of a South East Queensland classic walk! It really doesn't feel like 17km - there is so much to see along the way, the entertainment value is brilliant and inspiring. Many incredible waterfalls and rivers, so it's a superb walk to do in the wet. Can't rate this highly enough. Note that it's down down down all the way, then up up up all the way, so keep a little energy in the tank for the return half of the voyage!

This is a very beautiful walk, and a very comfortable one, which passes through several different ecosystems including dense rainforest, palm groves and more open grass tree/eucalypt forests (which smell exquisite). It's a 12km walk without going to the Lower Ballunjul Falls, but really, if you're doing this walk, the falls should well be part of it - they are absolutely stunning (very high, very full, with a great swimming hole beneath). Adding the falls into the equation, the walk is 15km long, and still super manageable and enjoyable. We saw a three metre long python, a green tree snake and several large goannas - just awesome! |
