Moonlight Crag, Balancing Rock and Castle Crag (Lamington National Park) |

Started on the Red Road and continued to Balancing Rock, stopped in the saddle between Balancing Rock and Castle Crag as a thunderstorm started the roll in and the gusts of wind were quite dangerous. Definitely recommend checking conditions before attempting this walk. Balancing Rock is currently cordoned off, when you view it, it looks like it's about to fall off at any moment. On our way back from Balancing Rock we saw a very weathered sign pointing to Castle Crag which we followed along the ridge. The trail is not always clear but there is the occasional orange tape to spot. Incredible views of the lost world. By far the best view I've seen in a long time. Well worth it!

Walk has a lot of distracting features such as large boulders and cliff faces to climb. We continued down the trail facing away from the falls and went further to the Warringa Pool which is another 2km return. Would love to go back in summer for a swim! 6km total distance.

Quick little walk although my GPS disagreed with the distance, a little longer than 3km I suspect. Pretty steep although lined with steps and inclining path the whole distance.

Fantastic walk, small cave if you climb to the top and down the other side a bit. I've got average climbing fitness and did not consider this 'difficult' as it took 18 minutes to reach the top peak from the first rock scramble (after the actual bush walk). The way down was a crab walk not much slower than the ascent (we spent a long time at the top looking around). Legs started to shake back in the car park though. Not 'technically' difficult but a good workout at a fast pace!

Did this after Mt Tibro, great views for little effort. Signs everywhere for people who dropped cameras over the rock ledges though, tie around your hand! Tiny overhang 'cave' nearby. |
