I did Wilson's Peak and loved it. We made the entire walk only 4km as we used a 4x4 to drive past the rabbit fence all the way to the start of the rainforest. You will need a decent 4x4 with a winch to drive to the top. The top part of the walk feels like you're going back in time with large hoop pines and old man's beard covering every tree. There is Dedroncide moroides (Gympie Gympie stinging treee) at the start of the rainforest section so take extreme caution through here. Do some research on the plant to make sure you know what it looks like. The rabbit fence leads all the way to an obvious, large cliff face where you will get views down to teviot falls. You need to straddle this to the RIGHT and follow the foot pad along until you get to an obvious marker and scramble route to the top. There are several paths at the top to different view points and it is well worth it. The way back down is very fun and I slipped over many times, hiking poles are essential for this walk. |

Drank 8L of water and had to refill on the way down from the creek. Foot padding guides you the whole way with orange markers aswell. Made it to the helipad for the best views and had to get back down before it was dark. Took us 8hrs. |
