I have done this hike 3 times. First time in 1992 when, except for the final ascent on the rock face, I found it relatively easy. I did it again in 1998 when I was training for my visit to Nepal for my 60th birthday. The last time was in 2003 when I was 70. I found that quite hard - and even more difficult coming down. There was much more tree roots etc. However, it is well worth doing - at any age. The scenery from the top is fantastic - on a clear day. I was amazed to see many young dads, carrying their kids on their back. Not sure if that's a good idea, as it can be quite slippery at times. You definitely need sturdy shoes (I wore tramping boots). Make sure you have a hat, sunscreen and lots of water. A packed lunch is also worthwhile. Heed all the warning signs and preferably go early in the morning as it can get dark very quickly in the mountains - especially in winter. Enjoy!
