This is a really nice walk through the bush, with great views as a reward. However, I would not class this as an easy walk at all, more a medium walk. The distance, combined with the decent number of climbs and descents and the fact that some of the paths are loose rocks, washed out or rocky, means that a reasonable level of fitness & experience is required. It definitely gets the heart pumping in places & we are both relatively fit people! We completed this walk on a Sunday, during school holidays and although The Gantry day use area was packed, we hardly saw anyone on the walk itself, even at the lookout, which is accessible by 4WD & motor bike too. It is worth pointing out that currently, about 25% of the track takes you through an area that has been burnt out by bush fires & is still pretty barren, although the bush is slowly regenerating now. |

Despite it's length, this is an easy, flat walk though the bush to the information centre at the start of the Noosa Everglades. We did this on a weekday afternoon & never saw a single person for the entire walk, including at the information centre itself. The only other way to get to the info centre is by boat. There isn't much there when you get there, just a few posters about the are & the history, but there is a toilet there if you need it.

We started out to do this walk, but ended up going all the way to the Artists Cascades, 14km round trip. This is a lovely walk through the bush, although the walk to the gold mine is a little more inclined that the description makes out, but still a relatively easy walk if you are fit enough. The walk to the Artists Cascades is a little more challenging, but all pretty well defined & well used paths.....although not tended & groomed like a lot of walks, which is nice. Took us about 3 hours to do the 14km walk

Great little walk to such a peaceful place. Did this late afternoon & saw lots of kangaroos out grazing.

Did this walk at 6.30am today. Great walk, great views, only saw two other people on the walk. Not too steep compared to others in the area, but still gets the heart pumping! As good as Coolum but without the people. Be aware......currently they are upgrading the road to the car park & the end of the road is fenced off & says no access. We just parked on the street & walked round the fence, no problem. Work is apparently scheduled to end sometime in July. |

Fantastic walk up Mt Cooran, had the whole mountain to ourselves! A bit of a challenge in places, as the path is rocky & not well defined. The directions are pretty good, but t's not easy to find the start off the climb up, as someone had moved the pink ribbon. Once on the path, ribbons are still there, but still got to make sure you follow the right path. Steep, but well worth the effort! A well kept secret, not another soul about!

Great walk, fantastic views, but be prepared for a lot of people on the track & at the top. We went first thing in the morning during the week & it was very busy with people going to watch the sunrise. A good walk that gets the heart pumping though, but I wouldn't race to do it again.....too many people.

Great walk, steep & a challenging path in places. Not for the faint hearted. Great views at the top, but very, very busy. We did this on a Sunday morning & unless you love the crowds, I would definitely avoid doing this on a weekend. Glad we did it & enjoyed the challenge, but not the people! |
