This short loop starts from the Redwood Park picnic area near the bottom of the Toowoomba Range. It is a narrow, winding track the leads through a pocket of dry rainforest and along the bank of Gatton Creek. Caution: the causeway can be slippery/flooded after rain.
Officially listed as Grade 3/Medium difficulty (includes some natural stairs + uneven surfaces), this track is suitable for walkers of all ages and most fitness levels.
From Toowoomba, drive down the Warrego Highway range crossing towards Brisbane. Look for the small dirt carpark on the left of the road, just after the 100km speed sign near the bottom of the range. Walk though the heavy wooden gate (pedestrian access only) then continue down the gravel driveway and past the picnic area and follow the signs to the Rainforest Walking Circuit trailhead.
None provided.
From the picnic area, walk downhill to the signed intersection and turn right towards the causeway (use caution if this is flooded after rain). The Rainforest Walking Circuit begins just after the causeway. Walk left up the stone stairs to explore the pretty dry vine scrub section, then continue around the circuit for views towards the creek. The creek may be dry, trickling or rushing depending on current weather conditions, and it's worth exploring to see the sandstone cliff-face downstream. Some rockpools are seasonally deep enough for a child to swim in.
None.
