Getting there

Walk from Airlie Beach to Kara Crescent trailhead - track begins from top left of Kara Cres (between 13-20 Kara)

Route/Trail notes

From Kara Crescent, follow the Conway circuit then turn right toward the Honeyeater lookout.

The walk to the lookout (2.3km) is mostly uphill and very steep, then after you turn right the final 1.8km is rolling and less difficult. The views from the top are magnificent.

Recomended walking in cooler weather

Great walk. 50min up and 50min down with steady pace. Slippery at times. Recommend parking on Kara Ct to get to entrance

Starting from at top left of Kara Cres, an enjoyable mid range walk. The first 2.3km was definitely more difficult than the second section, which is 1.8km. There are several flat and rolling sections to get your breath back as you head up which makes it a little easier compared to some walks that just keep on heading up and up. View at the top spectacular and well worth the effort, highly recommend 👌

Very hard uphill walk. Definitely not suitable for children. Took 1:15 to get up to the lookout from a street near Kara and about an hour to get back down. The walk back down is relatively easy but hard on the knees. Didn’t see the view because of the fog but it was still a lovely hike. Lots of different plant species and some cool looking moss.

Did the walk on my own because my partner, Dion, couldn't be bothered 😕
During the walk l didn't see any dangerous animals but l heard many noises coming from the bush, probably bush turkeys and lizards.
Started at 1.30pm and reached the top at 2.13pm. The walk itself was easy/medium, a few steep hills but downhills and flat parts too. I had a quick pace and l jogged coming back so it didn't take too long. Probably all together it took 1 1/2 to be generous, with an abundant 10 min at the top for photos of the view. It was hot, too hot definitely not the right time of the day to walk 😫
The view at the top was good. Def recommend it if you have some spare time.

Please do not read comment from Elese M. as its deceiving. There's absolutely no way you could done this walk in 45 mins, its 8 kilometres of pretty hard climbing so its takes around 3-3.5 hours. Its VERY STEEP and dusty when dry, I absolutely do not recommend this walk for small children, elderly or if you have problem with the knees. Also, it says bikes permitted but the area is not suitable for riding bikes as incline goes about 50-60% in some areas with lots of roots and stones

45 minutes to the lookout, with some steeper sections at the start of the trail. Lovely rainforest walk and decent view from the top.
