Completed this walk in 5.5hrs with my 15yo daughter, a very enjoyable day together 👌
We had great conditions, mostly dry and also with a breeze to help humidity so we were lucky. Even though it was dry season there were still heaps of leeches (mostly near the top). The track was a little overgrown in parts and I regretted not bringing my machete to help cut back some of the worst overgrown sections. Considering the steep sections, overall it’s a fairly well maintained track, with arrows and pink straps to help with navigation.
Please note the “good view” from the goat track and rock has been blocked off by an enclosed platform and there’s warning signs not to go any further - we were naughty & jumped the barrier to do the extra 300mt to the old lookout, which was much better and quite amazing tbh, but please be careful because this last section has a couple of sketchy sections and is no longer maintained

Starting from at top left of Kara Cres, an enjoyable mid range walk. The first 2.3km was definitely more difficult than the second section, which is 1.8km. There are several flat and rolling sections to get your breath back as you head up which makes it a little easier compared to some walks that just keep on heading up and up. View at the top spectacular and well worth the effort, highly recommend 👌
Mount Yaccaaba - Yaccaaba Head (New South Wales)

An absolutely stunning trail, you can either walk all the way along the beach from the SLSC at end of Booner St, otherwise take your car to end of Beach Rd and this shaves a few km of beach walking off the total trip. Once you get to the headland, the first half of the path is quite rolling and easy enough, then the second half is much more rocky and difficult. The views back towards Hawks Nest on a clear day are spectacular and when you get to the top there are 360 degree views back towards Nelson Bay etc. highly recommend this walk 😊
