The Cliffs Boardwalk

Brisbane City Council Local Walks

The area between the cliff face and the river, called The Cliffs Boardwalk, has been beautifully landscaped with walkways, including a boardwalk through the mangroves, barbecues, picnic areas and gardens.

Scattered along the walk are colourful artworks that were originally commissioned for the riverside promenade at World Expo 88 at nearby Southbank.

Nice walk, beautiful scenery. Went along the top, then the bottom track. You can make it a fairly decent walk, going from Captain Burke Park all the way to South Bank.

Heaps of people out on their afternoon jog today! A little congested in some places but everybody kept moving so it's all good. So much for social distancing hey 🤫

We started at the Botanic gardens walked alongside the river pass Eagles St all way to Storey Bridge. Across the Storey Bridge then again alongside the river. Pass the cliffs and Maritime museum to South Bank. There we rewarded ourselves with a nice meal. Then to Victoria Bridge and cross the river to Queens Street mall and bakc to our starting point at the botanic gardens.

I participated in the River Run fun run which includes this boardwalk section as part of a 5km stretch of the Brisbane River which the runners loop back and forth on. I'm no flash runner but it sure is made easier when you have the beautiful river city views to distract you from the sweat and pain!

We walked this path on the return trip of a walk from Newstead House to Southbank which is another walk that we do regularly and highly recommend. That return walk is about 20km. We did the boardwalk in the evening which gave us a beautiful view of the city lights. Just lovely!

You don't have to travel far from the city for this one. Beautiful river views, a nice place for a stroll or bike ride.
