Route/Trail notes

A detailed description of the walk! Leave the carpark and take the Maculata Track. This winds around the side of the mountain until it reaches Bardon Track. Cross over and continue on the Maculata track which winds down to Bardon reservoir, a name which has delusions of grandeur. At this point follow the track right then left and start the Kulgan Cct. This track winds up towards the summit of the next hill. It then winds down an open rocky section to a track junction. The right hand track leads to Paten Rd. Take the left hand track which leads back to the reservoir. Retrace steps back to Bardon Track at which point turn right and follow Bardon Track past a communications tower to the completion of the walk. This walk drops 260m in vertical height and gains the same.

Do you need any permits? What's the cost? No permits required or cost involved. There is no camping allowed.

Skip it.

Confusingly signed and unrewarding to complete.

Recommend starting at the bottom first - Paton road or Gordon road end... So that you do the uphill leg first!

I really enjoyed this walk particularly the Kulgan Circuit part. I found this walk fairly easy but would definitely do it again.
My Strava said it was 6.1 km.

Quite a nice walk. Strenuous in places and quite rocky in others. We got a little confused in some parts, firstly by the sign to the reservoir because the track doesn't actually take you there but to a water joke. The reservoir is the concrete tank variety and not at all inspiring. The signage for the rest of the track is a little confusing and we were helped by looking at the tracks on google maps. Never the less if you read the instructions carefully you should be fine. Just note that there are some intersections not mentioned that simply need to be crossed.

A pleasant walk with glimpses of Brisbane city skyline through the trees. The communications tower on the way back up was unexpected.
