Denham Falls walk

South East Queensland

This walk leads to a viewpoint above Lip Falls and the swimming hole below it in the Denham Scenic Reserve. Originally, now closed, one hour return walk through rainforest down to the Denham Falls and then to Lip Falls.

No longer can you get down to the falls but it’s still a nice easy walk.
Better to call it "Denham waterfall" walk.

Route/Trail notes

The track is frequently walked with locals so the path is well defined. Park on road-side; walk through park. You will see walk on left hand side (near donation box). The walk continues behind some properties before dropping down into back creek gorge. Beware, walking paths are steep and narrow next to deep gorges. Keep young kids under strict supervision, close to you, and on the path.

Just the walk to the viewpoint and then to the CLOSED private property sign. Seems there is a local group maintaining this so maybe sometime, someone will develop a new access track to the bottom. A half baked track (very steep) leads down at right angles from the closed sign, but ended in a fallen tree trunk. We could see a rock climbing group at the top of the falls on the other side (pretty sure we saw them head in just before we did) but not sure how they got there.

Viewpoint was ok, now there is a sign saying don't trespass to go down to the bottom of the waterfall, which is quite sad judging by how nice it looks down there. You can still manage to go to the top of the falls which was fun following down creek till you reach the edge of the cliff.

Walk to the Lips fall is closed now. There is about 800m path to the fence. It is still worth to walk, there is lookout to the Denham waterfall, nice forest, and you can walk down to the creek at one place.

Yes, this walk is closed off by a fence (surpassable), but still a nice little walk with a nice view of the falls.

Short easy walk, did it in slippers. The falls at the end is worth taking a look at. Head up on the opposite bank to walk up behind the falls and enjoy the view.

Great place to visit, Track is pretty well maintained.
the last section you need to head down a good section of stairs.
Very beautiful spot, not too many people there the day I visited,
The path back up is quite hard getting back of the steps.
Would not recommend to anyone with young kids. There is a bench half way back up for you to stop and catch your breath.

Great little hike and a fun swim in the heat of summer!

The walk is a bit hard to find and you are walking a track behind backyards but once the track descends you can hear the falls.
We saw a monitor lizard and a couple of rock wallabies on our walk.
The waterfall is beautiful and you and swim in there too. A hidden gem.
