Getting there

From Beerburrum Road, turn into Spoonbill Drive, about 3 km south of Elimbah. Follow Spoonbill Drive to its end and turn left into Wattlebird Drive. Follow Wattlebird Drive around a long left hand bend and just past this bend is a creek on the right.

Route/Trail notes

From Wattlebird Drive follow the creek on the western side or, keep the creek to the left, to the easement along the rear of the houses on the right. Folow this easement to the base of the mountain then ascend straight up to the water reservior and fence. Turn right at the fence and follow the fence around to the high point of the ridge. Turn right and follow the top of the ridge (there are vestiges of a track in parts), until a formed track is reached. Follow this track to the summit on which a fireplace is found. Continue on the track as it steeply descends to the north to the fire break then turn right and follow the firebreak out onto Wattlebrid Drive. Turn right and walk back to the start point.

To be frank, I do not think this "trail" should be listed as a hike. It is less of a bush walk and more of a hidden trail to a teenagers hideout. The beginning of the "hike" has no signage, but after following the directions on this site you find yourself traversing behind people's backyards, which is awkward in itself. Your first navigating point is a water tower, and once you find the trail "to the right" at the top of the ridge, you are mostly poking along a forest that is scattered with random debri. The "summit" is a clearing with corrugated metal that someone put together haphazardly to make a fort. Once you descend the "mountain" you traverse through more open fields that back against people's backyards where you finally meet Wattlebird Drive and walk through suburbia back to your car.

Did this one same morning as saddleback. Easy to do both. Good walk for some "ME" time as no one around and it's a stroll really.

Good walk up the hill, however not much of a view at the top.

Walked this today.

Can't add anything to the directions, other than when walking along the creek the ground was a bit boggy and wet (had been raining in the night) so make certain that's not an issue. Trail was easy enough for me to jog the whole way along, start to finish.

This is a short but good little track. Good Walk up the hill to the water tower. Not much of a view from the top at all.. good wildlife and easy to walk. Jules & Col

Nice walk. The directions are easy to follow which is good since there isn't much of a path for most of the walk up. The path down is clear though there are lots of loose rocks.
