Poets Rock

Karawatha Forest

From Stretton Reserve, cross the bridge and head up Casuarina Track. Take the right onto Macaluta track. About a kilometre or so in, right before you hit the join with Hakea track, you'll see a steep track heading to the left. Scramble up there and you've reached the peak of Poets Rock. A good place to think and write poetry.

I found the walk around Karawatha Forest pretty interesting. Located at the northern tip there is an old quarry which is filled with water.

If you would like to see around the place follow the link below.

The bushland appearance changes often, including a lagoon.

We combined a few other tracks including the Poets Rock track and ended up walking 11.6 km in total. Lovely bush land walk with lots to see. There are a multitude of tracks in this park and we will be returning to do a few of them later this year.

Did this one.. Very easy and not too interesting to be perfectly honest. As mentioned below good track for a run or cardio of sorts but if you are looking for views or to be impressed with scenery not too much on offer. Please note that roadworks going on around the area near the illaweena street parking so there are a few road closures

Pleasant walk, not particularly interesting. Took about an hour.

As an aspiring poet I thought a quick run up to poets rock would give me some inspiration.
This rock is so meh that I am yet to write a poem.
Awesome track for a run though, I must admit.

From a photographers point of view this is a great place to walk and explore. The colors and texture of the landscape are surprisingly unexpected through the lens.
I walked 8 Km of this particular day and found the going pretty easy. Good idea to take some water and a little snack. Domingo Martinez.

Easy Walk ..

We walked to Poets Rock from the Acacia Picnic Area off Acacia Rd. With a detour, we walked about 3 km. While Karawatha is really well signed, I would highly recommend taking a map so that you know where you are. There are lots of unmarked tracks that aren't maintained by the Brisbane City Council, and I believe that it is wise to keep off those to avoid getting lost.

Ended up doing 15km around the entire forest as a bit of an extra trip. well worth it, especially some of the views from the northern rocky outcrops along the fire trails.

First walk a while back I took a wrong turn and got really lost and made it out just before dark :/ since then I have made sure I have a map or gps to guide me and have enjoyed it a lot )

Did the walk to Poet's rock and then took some extra tracks in and around to make up a 7km walk. There are so many tracks through Karawatha I would strongly recommend taking a map with you. With all the tracks, you can make the walk as long or short as you like.

Saw a harmless snake on the path. Sat on the rock but didn't write a poem. Easy walk. It is a little steep if you approach the rock from the wrong path.

I did this after doing the Rocks Circuit. Not as good of a view, but the woodland is a bit more wild and closed in.
