Hanging Rock is a part of Australian History, and a very worthwhile trip. I briefly visited Hanging Rock in August 2016, and unfortunately did not have time to climb it. I made the return trip on December 26th, 2016 and am very glad I did. The climb offers all the mystery and eeriness you would hope for, given the story surrounding it. Care should be taken in area's, but this walk is not difficult if you keep to the tracks. An endless amount of photo opportunities, and a video I did of my visit here is available on youtube ... The title of my video is "My Picnic at Hanging Rock" But .. if you type in "My Picnic at Hanging Rock Drummer Jeff" .. it will save you searching through many video's .. |

Awesome views while climbing on South East Ridge, and just breathtaking at the top. Am going back again this coming weekend to do it again.

Great Climb ! If walking through long stretches of VERY long grass is not your thing .. avoid ! We perservered through this, and glad we did. Seeing the old Surveyors marker was quite special, but the cave was the highlight for me. After the cave, we climbed to the top to capture some great pics of the awesome view. As you approach Mt Cougal, the track indeed becomes quite steep. If you brave the cave ( you should ) look for a smaller cave inside FULL of glow worms.
