Getting there

Type 'Lookout Rd, Goomburra' into your GPS.

Go through Cunninghams Gap on Cunningham Highway. Turn right at the driver reviver on the right at Gladfield (Goomburra Rd).Turn right onto Inverramsy Road at the Goomburra Hall and follow this road to the very end. The road turns gravel and crosses the creek a number of times as it passes a number of private campgrounds (Gordon Country).

When you reach the National Park boundary (signed) take the left branch (Lookout Rd) which very quickly crosses the creek once more. (This crossing isn't sealed but can handle conventional cars as long as the creek isn't running too high).

Head up the range, you'll pass the start of the Araucaria Falls walk on the left then the Sylvestor's Lookout walk on the right before finally reaching the end of the road and the start of the Winder Track and Mt Castle Lookout.

Route/Trail notes

Just follow the track! Track climbs a bit and can be a bit slippery when wet, but quite easy.

Very easy walk, beautiful rainforest around. Unfortunately foggy when we got the lookout, but still very atmospheric. A little slippery in places, but lovely surroundings.

An easy 480m each way, traversing through soft rainforest. The views from this lookout are beautiful. We could see Flinders Peak, Mt Edwards, and even Brisbane in the distance!

Our third walk for the day (after Araucaria Falls and Sylvesters Lookout). A relatively short and easy walk. On a clear day, you can see Brisbane from the Lookout.

Went up for a day trip with a mate, looking at future campsites. Brilliant view of Mt Castle, and down the valley back to Ipswich and Brisbane.
