Getting there:

Turn off the Bruce Highway at Yandina and head into the town. At the first roundabout, turn left into Fleming Street, which becomes Old Gympie Road and then Cooloolabin Road. As you reach the dam, turn right onto gravelled Buckby Road and follow for 3.7km before turning right into Point Glorious Road (currently un-signposted). You can park and walk in from the warning sign 'high clearance 4WD'.

You can also get to the far end of Buckby Road from the Eumundi Kenilworth Road at Belli Park and drive in.

Route/Trail notes:

From your vehicle park, it is a straightforward walk in along the gravel road to the lookout and back.

Be aware, that this is mainly a local 4WD gravel road and as such is used/shared with 4WDs/motorbikes.

Permits/Costs:

None.

Other References/Comments:

You can drive right up to the lookout and then walk any of the surrounding tracks (mainly for horses). It's also a popular abseiling spot with great anchor points, toilets and picnic shelter.

Comments

Beautiful view and good for taking the oldies for a picnic, as you can park close to the lookout. Good facilities close by (compostable loo).

Walk up the gravel road is not exciting but in the morning it was well shaded & pleasant. The great views from the lookout make up for the track up.

Agree with the comments about the gravel road making a not very exciting walk but the views from the lookout are worth making a visit. I cheated and drove to the top, having already done a walk. The road is currently in very good condition. A low-slung sports car might struggle but anything else should be fine.

Beautiful view which is worth the look. I have a Subaru Forester and made it all the way to the look out with no problems if you want to save yourself the boring gravel walk to the lookout.

Yep, the reward is in the views from the lookout, as the walk in was not very exciting, being just a gravel road.

Whilst the crowds were on the beach checking out the swell, I headed to Yandina for a nice Sunday hike. Yes, you can drive up but as per previous hike I park the car near the 4WD high clearance sign and hiked up/down. Great views, very quite :-)

The drive along Point Glorious Road to the lookout can be anything, from rough to almost smooth. It's a pretty easy 4WD drive at the moment. Gorgeous views over the undulating valleys and hills of the Sunshine Coast.

Drove up to sign which states 4wd recommended and decided to hike the remaining 3km up. Nice lil walk , great views towards Noosa / Cooroy on one side and Maroochy other look out point.

Brilliant views north over farmland. The drive out in the car was a lot of fun. A good place for morning tea

Great views, with picnic shelter & toilet, abseiling anchor points on the cliff face as well, track can be walked up or drive upto the car park, rough track in places.
