Witches Chase

Tamborine National Park

Witches Falls is Queensland’s first National Park, declared in 1908. This track leads through rainforest with large red cedar trees and eucalypt forest to Witches Falls lookout. The waterfall only flows after recent rain and is best viewed from the lookout platform.

Return by the same route, or extend your walk by 3.1km by completing the Witches Falls Circuit, which starts just beyond the lookout.

Did the Chase and the circuit on the weekend. To reach the Witches Chase parking area you need to drive down a dirt track about 50m.

The chase pArt of the track is not all that difficult although its over grown in some sections. It decends through nice forest to the falls lookout which looks out to the west over the valley. The biggest issue is proably 200-300m in where the track is simply a pile of 200mm-500mm sharp edged rocks constituting a track.

Decent hike with great views

An easy walk that took me about an hour. I'd recommend heading in after rain to make the most of the stunning view at the end of the trail.

I started on the Witches Chase before walking the falls circut and then finished again on the chase. Best walked early in the morning to appreciate the forests birdlife. A few stair sections and an awesome boulder section. You will need to pay attention and watch where your going as its narrow in sections and rocks are jagged. Take time to stop at the boulder section to look up the hillside to a giant strangker fig with many elkhorns and moss.

Last walk (no 8) of the weekend and a quiet stroll down to Witches Falls, till confronted by a feisty 2m Green Tree Snake! Kids pretty tired out by now, but kept on trucking till the end.

Fun track! Tacked on to Witches Falls, brought it up to a nice distance. From the Witches Falls junction, the track climbs up the mountain a little and comes out at a road. There's a section of path that consists of only rocks, I wouldn't like to try it immediately after rain but in fine weather it's easily manageable.

A great walk with my 3 kids, even the little one made it the whole way! Quite cold on a winter's afternoon and lots of steps, but nice scenery.
