Bunya Crossing Reserve

There are several easy short dog-friendly walks in the area (about 2kms in total). There is a lovely shaded picnic area and a swimming hole with rope swing. It is not so much a picturesque walk but a good place to take the family for a relaxing picnic and to take your dog for a stroll and swim. Gates close at sunset.

Getting there:

Bunya Crossing reserve is approximately 15 kilometres north of Brisbane near Albany Creek. Parking is off Dugandan Road or Banks Crt, Albany Creek.

In one direction there is a wide dirt track and in the other a boardwalk along the South Pine River

A nice way to stretch the legs. I did encounter a lot of fresh, stinky mounds from dog walkers left behind. I thought we had evolved beyond inconsiderate but they are something you need to be constantly looking out for. The track is wide and a pleasure to stroll although floods and erosion are leaving scars on the environment. A nice picnic area with BBQ's and toilets. Great for a swim on a hot day with lots of rope swings hanging off tress along the walk.

This was our third time here. Usually only sparsely populated with dog walkers. Today (Australia Day) there were tons of families and each tree with a rope swing had a queue of kids keen for a turn. Although it seems that most dog owners come so their dog can swim, we were warned that it's a fine on the spot to have your dog off lead.

I did this walk with my dog starting from Sargent Reserve in Eatons Hill, over Sth Pine River at Bunya Crossing, past the picnic area to the end at Cressbrook Drive, then back the same way. Very easy walking, a nice alternative to concrete footpaths around the suburbs, but I'm not sure I'd call it a "bushwalk".
