Mt Rooper/ Swamp Bay (Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday) |

Beautiful view at the look-out located at the top of Mt Rooper. Moderately difficult for a beginner, but an experienced bushwalker could handle the inclines with ease. Beautiful plant and wildlife, and can see over the Whitsunday islands at the top.

Heaps of different tracks to cater to all fitness levels. You can take the road, or try the more intensive Cutheringa or Goat tracks. Lovely views of the city from the top- a lot of romantics seem to gather up there of an evening (although they do drive up).
Conway Circuit (formerly Whitsunday Great Walk) (Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday) |
Jan, 2013 |

27km return |

Did complete the whole circuit (27.1km) but don't remember how long it took. We started early morning and finished early afternoon. The last segment of the walk is especially difficult, being quite steep in terrain. However, there are shorter walks (such as Wompoo, or to the first camp) that are a lot easier for everybody to attempt. Beautiful scenery and constant bird calls being heard. My dad and I did this track (him with a 20kg pack) while he was training for Kokoda and found it incredibly helpful. |
