Yellowpinch Summit (Mt Barney National Park)
7 Dec, 2017
Medium
3km

Short but steep walk with nice views from the summit. Have uploaded photos of the two gates. The first gate is near car park & the second is further up a trail wide enough for vehicles. At the second gate the path veers to the right & narrows. Would be nice in conjunction with Lower Portals during cooler weather.

First half to the lookout spot is easy enough. Second half to the summit is a challenge for more elderly walkers but worth while views at the top.
Agree with other walkers- take plenty of drinks.

Governors Chair Lookout (Main Range National Park)

Stunning views from the Governors Chair spot. Road is badly washed away in spots with recent rains. A lot of bird & animal life to see. Worth the approximately 7 klms of gravel road but take it slowly.

Very Easy

Short walk near the camp ground with some poignant reminders of our early settlers & their difficult lives. Shame it is not being kept in better condition.
Davies Creek Falls Circuit (Far North Queensland)
19 Oct, 2017
Easy
1.2km return
45 mins
Davies Creek & Emerald creek walks can be done easily in a day with a drive from Cairns. Lovely walk through open forest along the creek. A few steep sections & steps but overall an easy walk. Take water as it can get hot as it is more open than many of the rainforest walks around Cairns. Easy track to follow.

Great views from the top. There is sign marking a 300 meter climb up stairs which is steep however if taking it steady there are 2 seats on the way to enjoy the gorge itself. Once at the top it levels out to the viewing platforms.

Amphitheatre (Carnarvon National Park)

Definitely the must see in the Carnarvon Gorge area along with the Moss Garden. Take the time to just sit & listen to the sounds if you have it to yourself. Need to be reasonable able bodied to climb the ladders leading to the entrance. Fantastic spot

Only a short offshoot from the main track to Big Bend & worth the time.
Cathedral Cave (Carnarvon National Park)

Starts out from the visitors center & is well marked up to the Art Gallery turn off. After this the walk flattens out however is not so well marked & requires some common sense to find the track in a few areas. Great walk & worth continuing up to the Big Bend for a break before returning. River crossings a bit wobbly in places. Allow a whole day if taking time to visit the sites along the route.
