Very picturesque walk with many waterfalls along the way to visit. Coomera falls were of course the highlight. Were fortunate enough to see several of the blue crayfish in the ponds and even had one large one (almost a lobster really) out of the water and crossing the track. Quite a few creek crossings to navigate but not overly difficult, just the potential slippery rock risk. Track markings could be improved around the water areas. Picked up several leeches and had a fat red-bellied black sunning itself on the track. A relatively easy walk that took us 6 hours to complete. Very pretty walk though, thoroughly recommend.

As indicated by previous comments and the overall rating, this hike is relatively easy with no steep up or downhill climbs. Adding the 4.6km return upper Balanjui (spelling?) falls is well worth it, and so is the scramble up surprise rock. Found you are a bit exposed when walking through the bushfire ravaged section. The diverse vegetation you experience on the walk is excellent. Quite a few places to stop and have a picnic.. didn't have any issues with leeches.

Good walk, gentle gradient so was relatively easy on the joints. Visited all the lookouts on the way down to the falls. Suggest that small or young children be very closely supervised at the lookouts and during some of the walk as no safety barriers are in place and one slip could result in a catastrophe. The falls were well worth the hike and an ideal place to stop for a bite to eat. |
