Piper Comanche Wreck (D'Aguilar National Park) |

7.5km return 2 hrs |

Went with a new GPS as expected navigation to be tricky, but it was easy - lots of 'Piper Comanche Track' signs, pink tape has been removed. Only tricky bit is following the track on the last descent towards the wreck, note the there is a large fallen tree with a gap cut in it to let you through. 2 hours 30 minutes return, check yourself for ticks after the walk.

3h 40m. Much warmer than expected, glad to have taken extra water, but nice breeze towards the end. Good workout especially with the steep sections at the start.

3hrs 15m from start to finish. Walking clockwise, there are some short but steep ascents until you reach the lakeside hut, after which the track is more gentle. Pleasant stroll with occasional views of Lake Manchester and a breeze at the higher parts. Straightforward to navigate, just keen turning right at the signposted intersections. Be prepared to get your feet wet if there has been rain - the walk starts with a broad creek crossing. Bring plenty of water. |
