Started the climb at 3.30am for sunrise! Had a pretty good headlamp.
Don't go on your own if its your first time and you are not confident with heights or climbing.
Mount Tibrogargan Summit (Glass House Mountains National Park)

Very Hard
2.7km return

Started just after 6:PM from the base. Took 21 minutes up. Left top at 6:37pm 2 minutes before sunset (which was cloud covered) almost halfway down it rained heaps! Became slippery. I wouldn't recommend it in the rain. Got to the bottom of chicken rock just after 7 and turned on my torch and then realized what an idiot I am for not using it 20 minutes earlier! What I did today was insane so please respect the risk associated with climbing Tibrogargan. I was confident only because it was my 5th time. My first time on October 15 I took almost 3 hrs return.

Left Toowoomba at 1am got to friends by 3am plane arrived Cairns at 10.15am started Climb at 2pm on no sleep!! And Josy just came off ten days straight! Got dark at 630pm did most of the difficult scrambling in the dark! With our $2 kmart torches and 15kg packs I would recommend that! Then got to campsite at 830pm!! Got back 24hrs later at 2pm

Beautiful mountain that is the hardest physical accomplishment we have ever done.

Lots of leeches need gaiters, salt and deet to stand a chance.

Did this at 5am before the Bundaberg chess tournament!
Mount Beerwah (Glass House Mountains National Park)

Very Hard
3.6km return

65 minutes up today! Its steep but if you have faith in your ability to climb than the most challenging part is simply a confidence thing.
Mt Cooroora (Sunshine Coast)
6 Nov, 2020
Hard
2.6km return
2.5 hrs
Did this twice today. Missed sunrise because we left Toowoomba at 1.15am and I was salty so I climbed for sunset 28 minutes up and 16 minutes down from car park! Its lots of fun!

Left Toowoomba 11.30pm to Coorparoo 1.00am left Coorparoo at 3.30am got to Beerwah at 5.00am my climbing partner and I had known it was difficult but wow! Its crazier than expected. After doing this today I am not surprised that so many people get rescued here. I climbed up in my $20 Kmart boots! They have good grip which is absolutely necessary. It was sooo much fun and the views were incredible. Be safe and don't go if it's raining or hot.
Lower Portals (Mt Barney National Park)

The walk on the way in is dry. You go up and down hills.
You can swim to the rushing water and use the rope to hoist yourself up and the water cave is on the left.
You will be happier if you wear aqua shoes.
By the time you walk back to the car you will need another swim.
Mt Cougal (Springbrook National Park)
7 Oct, 2020
Hard
10km

We parked on the QLD side at Cougal Cascades. Then after much deliberation, we found the path behind a fence between the motorcycle parks and the Cougal Cascade track.
It's a massive hill that goes up forever. Keep following it until you turn left for 500m or so to the start of the track. Walk along the fence line for ages. There are various moments where you go into the forest but, never too far from the fence. After walking up to the top (base of cliff) go right and you will eventually see pink ribbons for where to climb (its rock face climbing) ignore these ribbons instead go right for an easy scramble to the top. You have now reached east peak. We bushbashed a well defined path to west peak which is down then up again. There were no views so don't let Instagram fool you. It took us about 7hrs in total at a leisurely pace.
East peak has okayish views. We encountered 5 ticks in total during the walk. Lots of spiky trees on one side and barbed wire on the other. Hundreds of spiderwebs and spiders. We were lucky to pick a cool day and did not encounter any snakes. You cannot do this walk without bushbashing to some degree. IMO, Mount Cooroora, Grevile and Maroon I give a 10/10 for enjoyment here I give a 4/10 because the amount of effort exherted didnt equate to the views that were rewarded.
Mt. Mathieson Circuit (Main Range National Park)

Took 2.5 hrs. We went while its cloudy and I wouldn't recommend doing that as all of the views suffered. Bird life was impressive. Governors chair lookout was very nice and you can drive there. This walk wasn't very stimulating for me.
Mount Edwards (Moogerah Peaks National Park)

The dam on the way in is so daammm fine! After crossing it the walk starts. It took us 1 hr each way and there was no scrambling. There isn't much flat bits it's like walking up a very long hill. Not as steep as Mt Beerburrum though. The view at the top is impressive and would be great for sunrise and sunset except the dam gate closes at times that would prevent this I imagine. I won't do this one again but this side of the dam is a nice spot for a picnic.
Table Top Loop (Toowoomba)

Hard
2km return

Did this 3 times. 19 minutes up and 2 days before 22 minutes up. View is good. Scrambling is fun. There is optional rock face climbing too. I wouldn't bother from picnic point that seems ridiculous. However, you will need a decent car to get to the base via Table Top drive. Lots of pot holes, gravel road and steep. Otherwise park at the top of that drive and walk 400 meters down. Take good grip shoes you will need them did this in worn our runners the first time and it was very unstable. Without sounding arrogant I like to use this as a pre gym cardio when it's too windy for soccer.
