Lower Portals (Mt Barney National Park) |

This is a lovely hike - the trail was overgrown in places due to rain, but easy to follow. There was one creek crossing requiring shoes to be removed (but likely only due to lots of recent rain). The portals are magnificent. About 4 hours round trip with an hour at the water hole for lunch and swim.

Great walk 9km for circuit and Waringa Pool extension. Today the track was muddy - walking sticks were really useful! We arrived early and encountered a few people but by the time we left (2.5 hours) it was very very busy The Waringa pool track is not signposted but the map makes it clear when to veer off the circuit. Take a left before you go down to the falls on the circuit path. Otherwise it is well signposted. Really doable walk. Heavily canopied so lots of sun protection. |

Excellent walk. well signposted. It is a very steep climb, with chains to assist for most of the toughest sections. the views from the top are magic, but the joy of the summit is the real incentive as the views are achievable from various spots on the way up. My knees found the descent harder than the ascent. We took a couple of hours, although the younger ones can do it much quicker. it begins in canopy, but it is mostly fairly exposed .... the summit is in lovely shade, with trees at the top. i recommend an early start before it gets too hot. Pomona is a lovely little place to have some late breakfast or lunch afterwards.

Great walk. 12 km round trip to Mt Cordeaux and Bare Rock from the car park. We left about 8.15am and returned to the car park about 1.pm (nearly 5 hours) We walked steadily and stopped for a while (About half and hour ) at each of Mt Cordeaux and Bare Rock. The walk is mostly canopied , so not too exposed to the sun. None of it is a high gradient, it is fairly steady climbing and a well marked path. Great walk with amazing views from several places along the way. Highly recommend. |
