Impromtu hike up Mt Cooroora today. Didnt quite make it to the top, but still a lot further up than I thought I'd make it. Confident i will make it up one day. It wont be pretty, but I'm sure I can with a little bit more preparation. |

Nice easy walk to the top, parking is near the top. Dont let the gravel road stop you, you don't need a 4wd its just unsealed in patches. Wheelchair access to the eastern lookout which has nice views too. Such a great idea |

Different to the walks I usually take, first km had no shade before lunch so take a hat and sunscreen. Pretty much just walking along fields then a golf course. However the platypus lookout... wow. It says mornings and evenings but even around midday full sun I managed to see a couple. First time I'd seen a wild platypus so I was stoked. Be patient, and follow the signs instructions. Was about 10 minutes before I saw the first few. Saw half a dozen over about half an hour. Possibly one or two of the same. Even watching the ripples and bubbles was pretty cool. The next part is a bit meh, but there's a trail after u cross the golf course. Couple nice photo spots near the picnic area / creek. Bit more trail up to the top of the golf course has a lot of bird sounds, and historical stuff. Kinda interesting Definately not the usual hike. You'll either love it, hate it or land somewhere in between depending on what your usual treks are. It ain't a rainforest one, and the highlight is definitely the platypus lookout, which you don't really need to do the circuit for. Can park up near the museum brigade thing just to go there. Still glad I did it though |

Planned on just doing this circuit as i had been to the swimming spot before. Amazing what people miss seeing when they just stop at the rockpool. Definately head to the right down the stairs towards the look out first (if u go clockwise the steps will be painful!!! Decided to head out to flatrock (aprox 3km extra each way) if you have the time and stamina it's really worth it for some of the views, bird sounds, massive butterflies and even saw a land mullet. Next step is to try make it to Baroon lookout. |

Walked this today. Its a shared circuit with mountain bikes and horses. Nice little stroll, one short steep spot had me breathing deep but im not the fittest. Saw 6 lace monotors in a few different spots, 2 female kangas with joeys in pouch and one male watching over them. Gonna head back sometime to try some of the othee shared circuits Wish i had a mountain bike to try some of the bike trails. |

Great lookouts in all 4 directions, and the middle up the top (where people have made rock mounds) has a special vibe if you let yourself absorb it for a while. Nice seeing locals walking their dogs up there too |
