Booloumba to Summer Falls

Conondale National Park

Start at the Booloumba Day use area and take the Great Walk trail to the north west. I went to the old lookout...good view however cloudy and light rain. Great day hike well signed.

Getting there:

From Kenilworth travel south on the Maleny Kenilworth Road for 7km before turning right onto Booloumba Creek Road. Travel a further 5km along this road to the entrance of the park. From here on, the road is unsealed and you will need a High Clearance 4WD as there a number of creek crossings. After 1km you will reach the Day Use Area on the right, where you can park.

All the walks start from here, although they can be accessed from the three camping areas.

A little overnighter. The Mount Allen Fire Tower was open but there's heaps of moths and flies up there.
Saw a few snakes at the Summer Falls. Such a peaceful hike. Only saw two other groups of hikers.

Did this as an overnighter, making the small detour to the top of mount allen on the way. 4 hours to the camp, 3 hours to get back to the car, as an unfit, overweight person carrying a 15kg backpack.

The track there has no creek crossings, but lots of variety- rainforest, subtropical, grassy gum tree fields. Lots of little pools to dip in at summer creek when you get there.

And the swim at Booloumba when you’re done is absolutely divine!

Great hike during the week, no other hikers on the path. Just bliss.
Spend the day here , couple smaller ones too and lunch along the way. Nice views to be had

Long hike for us, but we made it! Not too difficult going up, Mt Allan, just long and then only half way to Summer Falls. We ended up doing near 18km one way which included the fire tower and up and down the creek at Summer Falls. Much quicker return!
